World Mayors Convene in Nanjing to Formulate River City Development Consensus

Nanjing: From November 19 to 21, the "2025 World Mayors Dialogue: Nanjing", organized by the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, was held in Nanjing. The event brought together mayors and representatives from sister cities in Brunei, Egypt, Germany, and UNESCO Creative Cities Network cities to deliberate on urban development with a focus on water and to collectively issue the "Nanjing Consensus on Major River Cities Development".

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the host city of Nanjing established a high-level dialogue platform for the attendees, allowing them to experience firsthand the city's urban development through various on-site visits. At the Xiaoxihu Lake Historical Area, the guests commended the local "micro-renovation" approach, which maintains the traditional street layout and the fa§ade of old buildings while balancing the lives of residents with the display functions of scenic areas. This model serves as an international example for historical preservation and community revitalization. Along the Yangtze River, the presence of wild finless porpoises, the pristine water, and the skyline of high-rise buildings on both banks paint a harmonious picture, effectively showcasing Nanjing's ecological conservation efforts. The AI intelligent control and real-time environmental monitoring system of Nanjing Steel Group impressed guests with China's advancements in "smart manufacturing" aimed at reducing carbon emissions and enhanc ing energy efficiency. Furthermore, landmarks like the Nanjing City Wall Museum and the Zhonghua Gate barbican highlight the city's balanced approach to historical preservation and modern development.
