Kuala lumpur: Reunited with Tee Kai Wun in men's doubles, Man Wei Chong says they intend to give it their best and see where it takes them when they compete in the 2026 World Championships in New Delhi from Aug 17-23.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wei Chong-Kai Wun, seeded 11th for the world badminton meet, have been given a first-round bye and are slated to begin their campaign in the second round at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Although the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have currently revamped the men's doubles setup in preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, Wei Chong and Kai Wun have been reunited for the India tournament based on their world ranking.

Wei Chong expressed that even their opening match in the second round is expected to be challenging. He mentioned the possibility of facing a pair from the United States, who have shown promising performances this year. "We just have to prepare ourselves and just give it our best as the tournament is regarded as one of the biggest events on the badminton calendar," Wei Chong said at Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) today.

He further noted the uncertainty of setting a specific target due to the change in partners, emphasizing their focus on progressing as far as possible in the tournament. "This is the World Championships. it's huge and we can only hope to do our best," he said.

In the World Championships, Wei Chong-Kai Wun will start their campaign against either Americans Chen Zhi Yi-Presley Smith or Dev Ayyappan-Dhiren Ayyappan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). If successful, they could face an all-Malaysian clash against Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik in the next round.
