Tokyo: Xsolla, a global leader in video game commerce, has appointed Eiko Kokubun as Head of Japan, effective September 8, to bolster its support for Japanese game developers pursuing international expansion. This strategic move underscores Xsolla's commitment to strengthening its presence in the Japanese market and supporting local developers in their global endeavors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Xsolla has witnessed significant growth in Japan since its launch four years ago, as stated by Juyeon Lee, Xsolla Senior Vice President of APAC. "To continue this momentum, we are pleased to welcome Kokubun, whose expertise and leadership will help strengthen our partnerships in the Japanese market," said Lee in a statement.
Eiko Kokubun expressed his enthusiasm about joining the company, stating, "I am truly honoured to join Xsolla and contribute to the growth of Japan's game industry. Drawing on my experience in the entertainment sector, I am committed to helping developers expand globally by leveraging Xsolla's innovative solutions."
Kokubun brings extensive leadership experience in both domestic and global business development. His career includes strategic and financial roles at top-tier media and entertainment companies such as Amazon, Disney, and Sony Pictures, where he served as Vice President and General Manager.
He also held executive roles at DAZN, leading live sports streaming operations and business-to-business (B2B) growth, and most recently was Executive Officer at Tsuburaya Productions, where he managed high-level strategic initiatives.
Xsolla's expansion in Japan is part of its broader strategy to support developers with global infrastructure, monetisation tools, and cross-market access.
