Kuala Lumpur:Selangor: Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor (YANIS) has initiated the 'Galang Dana' fundraising campaign with the goal of raising RM5 million to enhance the welfare of persons with disabilities (PwD) in the state.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the funds will be used to expand YANIS's flagship programmes, which include the YANIS Screening, ANIS Centre, Independent Living Support Centre (ILSC), and the Inclusive Development Programme (IDP). Additionally, the campaign will support the Cerebral Palsy Care Unit (CPCU) and Bantuan Rahmah Insan Istimewa Selangor (BRAIS), while also helping to launch new initiatives.
In 2025, YANIS allocated RM2,787,967 to benefit over 3,000 individuals through various programmes, focusing on assistance for caregivers of children with special needs, advocacy activities, and IDP learning programmes. YANIS aims to broaden its impact and increase the number of beneficiaries to foster a more inclusive society.
The campaign was unveiled during the YANIS 2026 Gala Dinner, inaugurated by Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who serves as the royal patron of YANIS. Contributions from diverse organisations and individuals are expected, either through financial support or strategic partnerships, to ensure a sustainable impact on the disabled community.
YANIS chairman Anfaal Saari emphasized the foundation's unique position in providing targeted services to PwD and its ability to mobilize stakeholders in creating a holistic ecosystem. Unlike government agencies that focus on macro policy-making and cash assistance, YANIS operates with agility, aligning with private sector business models to meet the needs of strategic partners.
YANIS CEO Ar. Kamarul Hisham Yeop Hashim highlighted the foundation's alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing areas such as Quality Education, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Reduced Inequalities. Potential partners can engage with YANIS through financial contributions or Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) collaborations to empower PwD and promote inclusive employment and sustainable social impact.
YANIS anticipates recognition as a social enterprise with tax exemption status by 2027. Operating as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLBG), YANIS ensures transparency by making its financial accounts available on the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) portal.
