Kuala lumpur: Yayasan Mahir Malaysia is urging the government to allocate more funds to the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK) loan scheme in the upcoming 2026 Budget, which is set to be presented in the Dewan Rakyat tomorrow.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk P. Sri Ganes, the president of Yayasan Mahir Malaysia, emphasized the necessity of increased funding to achieve the goal of a 35 percent skilled workforce by 2030. He pointed out that the RM500 million allocated previously was fully utilized by August, highlighting the inadequacy of the current funds to meet existing demand.

Sri Ganes has urged the Ministry of Finance to consider additional funding to support the ongoing development of a skilled workforce, aligning with the objectives of the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

He also mentioned that PTPK's initiative to review its loan criteria reflects the government's commitment to strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) governance. This approach ensures that any additional allocations are managed effectively.

Sri Ganes further clarified that the government has not discontinued PTPK funding, but is instead motivating private TVET institutions to improve their competitiveness and provide high-impact programmes that align with industry needs.
