Shah alam: Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan (YBK) is set to assist 400 families of hardcore poor, poor, and asnaf across the nation through its Program Sinar Kasih Ramadan (SKR), now in its 18th year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme will commence ahead of Ramadan, anticipated to start on February 19. The initiative will provide cash assistance and basic necessities, funded by contributions from individuals, organizations, and strategic partners. Since its inception in 2008, the programme has supported 4,071 families with a total of RM1.5 million in cash contributions, demonstrating the foundation's consistent support for vulnerable groups.
For 2026, YBK plans to aid 400 families by offering cash donations for breaking of fast and sahur expenses, alongside goods donations from corporate sponsors. The programme also acts as a bridge, linking beneficiaries with contributors, sponsors, and relevant agencies such as the Selangor Federal Development Office (ICU), the Department of Social Welfare, and the Selangor Zakat Board.
YBK's chairman, Datuk Zainal Abidin Sakom, emphasized the foundation's role as a facilitator, enabling beneficiaries to be directed to the appropriate agency according to their needs. This allows donors to channel their contributions transparently and effectively through YBK. Information on aid recipients is gathered through schools, community leaders, NGO partners, and YBK volunteers, undergoing a verification process to ensure aid reaches eligible families.
YBK also ensures transparency by displaying reports related to the programme's implementation on social media platforms and the foundation's official website.
