YSIJ Supports Orang Asli Women’s Pineapple Project with Soil Tiller Donation

Kluang:The Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ) has provided a soil tiller to the Orang Asli community in Kampung Orang Asli Berasau, Kluang, to support their pineapple cultivation project.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the donation aims to empower the socioeconomic status of the Orang Asli community, focusing particularly on women. These women are leading the effort to cultivate 30,000 pineapple plants on a 1.21-hectare plot of land. The initiative underscores YSIJ's commitment to ensuring rural communities, such as the Orang Asli, are included in the economic development driven by agriculture and entrepreneurship.

The agricultural machinery was delivered to the Orang Asli community by YSIJ Chief Operating Officer (Orang Asli Development Division) Marina Ibrahim. The handover was attended by State Agriculture, Agro-based Industry and Rural Development Committee chairman Md Israk Abdullah, Johor Pineapple Board assistant director Hashim Tohak, and Kampung Orang Asli Berasau village head Batin Sari.

In a separate initiative, YSIJ distributed 250 boxes of essential items to families on the Mersing islands affected by the Northeast Monsoon. This effort, part of the Basic Necessities Contribution Programme, was carried out for residents of Johor islands.

The ceremony took place at the Mersing District Office parking area and was officiated by YSIJ senior manager Shah Reza Md Kanafe, who handed the contributions to Mersing district officer Jamil Hasni Abdullah. Johor Corporation Foundation (JCorp) manager Shahrazali Sahlan was also present as the contribution was symbolically handed over to the island communities' village heads for distribution to those in need.
