Zahid Rallies Support For Two Malaysian Pairs In World Badminton Finals

Kuala lumpur: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has called on all Malaysians to come together to give full support to the two national pairs who will play in the finals of the World Badminton Championships in Paris today. The Deputy Prime Minister said women's doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah and mixed doubles duo Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei have done the country proud by advancing to the final of their respective events on the day of the nation's independence anniversary.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid expressed his congratulations to Pearly-Thinaah for making history as the first Malaysian women's doubles pair to qualify for the final and also to the solid pairing of Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who similarly advanced to the championship match. He highlighted that their presence on this prestigious stage, right on National Day, is a meaningful gift for the homeland, as mentioned in his Facebook post.

Ahmad Zahid urged all Malaysians to continue offering prayers and encouragement to both pairs so they can deliver a memorable victory for Malaysia. He emphasized the importance of raising the Merdeka spirit on the world stage, encouraging everyone to show their true Malaysian spirit, stand united, and cheer the teams on.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei are scheduled to face China's Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin at 7 pm Malaysian time, while world number two Pearly-Thinaah will play the world's top-ranked pair, China's Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning, at 8.40 pm.
