10 Undocumented Migrants Escape Tanah Merah Immigration Depot – Police

Tanah merah: Ten undocumented migrants escaped from the Tanah Merah Immigration Depot early this morning, police said. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that all the migrants were under the custody of the Kelantan Immigration Department and that police would conduct further investigations into the incident.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Yusoff mentioned that the escape occurred at approximately 3 am today, and an alert had been issued to mobilize a lockdown operation in the area around the depot to track down and recapture all the escaped migrants. Residents in the vicinity expressed concern over the escape.

Kampung Bukit Gading resident Mohd Norizam Mustapa, 60, shared that the incident had caused unease among the local community, particularly as the depot is located around 10 kilometers from their village. He urged villagers and those in surrounding areas to remain vigilant and cooperate with the authorities if they spot any suspicious individuals.

Restaurant worker Habibah Yakob, 56, reported learning about the incident through a residents' WhatsApp group and immediately took precautionary measures. She expressed worry about the safety of her co-workers and hoped that the authorities could intensify the search operation to recapture all those who escaped.
