Putrajaya: Eleven new schools are opening across five states and Putrajaya this year to meet growing education needs and serve local communities, according to Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh. He announced that eight of these schools have already begun operations, with three more in Johor slated to open in September.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the eight operational schools include SMK Putrajaya Presint 15(1) and SK Putrajaya Presint 15(1) in Putrajaya; SMK Bandar Baru Sungai Lalang in Kedah; SMK Trusmadi and SMK Batu Sapi 2 in Sabah; SMKA Sheikh Tahir Jalaluddin in Penang; and SMK Bandar Tun Hussein Onn and SJKC Ladang Regent Elmina in Selangor. The schools in Johor, namely SK Bandar Putra 2, SMK Suria Jaya in Parit Yaani, and SMK Bandar Dato Onn in Johor Bahru, are expected to begin operations on September 7.

During a press conference held today at SK Bandar Putra 2, Wong highlighted the significance of the new schools. He mentioned that SK Bandar Putra 2 was constructed at a cost of RM35.6 million and is equipped with facilities including 32 classrooms, a special education preschool, and an Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI).

Wong further explained that the establishment of SK Bandar Putra 2 would alleviate enrolment pressure on existing schools such as SK Bandar Putra and SK Putra Utama. "The new school will also make it more convenient for parents, particularly those living nearby, to send their children to school," he stated. Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching was also present at the event.
