Kuala lumpur: Approximately 1,100 participants took part in the Jiwa Merdeka Fun Walk Hang Tuah Jaya (HTJ) 2.0 at the Melaka Youth and Sports Complex in Ayer Keroh last night, to ignite the spirit of patriotism in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hang Tuah Jaya member of parliament Adam Adli Abdul Halim said participation in the second edition of the programme had increased compared to last year, reflecting strong public enthusiasm for activities that bring together diverse segments of the community. "This is the second edition and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. This event is more than just a recreational activity. It is a platform to strengthen unity, foster brotherhood and promote harmony among the community," he told Bernama after the event.
He noted that various segments of the community within the Hang Tuah Jaya parliamentary constituency have consistently taken an active part in programmes organised in the area, including National Day celebrations, festivals and other community events. Adam added that a range of other activities have also been carried out in conjunction with the National Month in Hang Tuah Jaya, including the distribution of Jalur Gemilang flags and smaller-scale programmes focused on deepening public understanding and appreciation of independence.
The Fun Walk Jiwa Merdeka HTJ 2.0 covered a 2.5-kilometre route starting from the Melaka Youth and Sports Complex, passing through Jalan Tasik, Jalan Zoo and Dataran Sejarah, before returning to the starting point, with six checkpoints along the way. The programme also received support from the Melaka Information Department, Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia, Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council, Komuniti MADANI, and Melaka State Youth and Sports Department.
