500 Students in Padang Rengas Benefit from Back-to-School Aid


Padang rengas: A total of 500 students in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency received RM50,000 in assistance under the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI: Back to School 2026 programme to help ease the financial burden on families ahead of the new school session.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the political secretary to the Finance Minister, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, stated that the recipients comprised students aged between seven and 18 from low-income families. The selection of beneficiaries was conducted by the Kuala Kangsar District Education Office and is part of a broader effort, complementing the more than RM800 million allocated by the government recently for the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP) programme.

Muhammad Kamil expressed hope that the assistance would be used by parents to purchase essential school supplies for their children. He mentioned this during the programme’s officiation, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting families in need.

Meanwhile, one of the aid recipien
ts, Che Normah Ahmad, 71, shared that the assistance would be used for her eight-year-old grandson, Ahmad Iman Izz Qarish Abdullah, who has been undergoing treatment for blood cancer since birth. She emphasized that such assistance programmes are vital for families with children requiring special care and expressed hope for the continuation of similar initiatives to benefit more students from low-income households.
