50,000 Expected At National Day Celebration In Sabah

Kota kinabalu: About 50,000 people are expected to attend the Sabah-level National Day 2025 celebrations, which will be held along Jalan Tun Fuad Stevens here on Aug 31.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chairman of the Main Committee for the National Day and Sabah Day 2025 Celebrations, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, stated that Sabah Day will also be celebrated on the same day in the evening, featuring a variety of programmes. Masidi, who is also the State Finance Minister, mentioned that the National Day 2025 celebration will see 157 contingents participating in the parade, representing categories including schools, higher learning institutions, uniformed bodies, voluntary associations, and non-governmental organisations.

Masidi highlighted a new addition to this year's parade, which will feature 50 scooter riders joining as a contingent for the first time. The event will be graced by the presence of Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman, who is scheduled to arrive at 7.30 am with his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is also scheduled to attend the celebrations.

He encouraged the public to arrive early, as last year's celebration saw the parade area crowded with people as early as 6 am. Sabah Day will be held in the evening at Padang Merdeka as a continuation of the National Day festivities in the morning.

Additionally, Masidi noted that the Kota Kinabalu City Hall launched a flag-raising campaign on Aug 1, and the response from business premises and the public has been encouraging. He urged all Malaysians in Sabah to fly the flag at their business premises and homes throughout the independence month as a sign of love and devotion to the state and Malaysia.
