800 Police Personnel To Ensure Security For Melaka National Day Celebrations

Melaka: A total of 800 police personnel will be deployed to ensure security and smooth traffic flow throughout the three-day state-level National Day celebrations at Dataran Klebang from Aug 29 to 31. Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar stated that the deployment would cover security and traffic control for several major events, including the Maulidur Rasul celebration on Aug 29, Ambang Merdeka on Aug 30, and the National Day celebrations on Aug 31.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the move to a new venue in Klebang this year is not a problem as authorities are confident that all parties, particularly the Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB) and the Melaka state government, have made thorough preparations. The police are assisting with security and traffic control, Dzulkhairi informed reporters after the Charity Ride convoy programme with the Ipoh Superbikers Club (ISBC), held in conjunction with the 219th Police Day and 69th National Day celebrations at the Melaka Police Contingent Headquarters.

Also present at the event were Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus and Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad. Dzulkhairi mentioned that several roads around Dataran Klebang would be closed or diverted in stages from Aug 26 to 31 to facilitate preparations and ensure the smooth running of the National Day celebrations.

Jalan Pantai Klebang will be closed to the public, while traffic from Sungai Udang to the city centre will be diverted via Jalan Lama Klebang. Authorities urge visitors to plan their journeys to avoid severe traffic congestion, as the roads in the area are quite narrow.

Dzulkhairi noted that about 150 motorcyclists from across the country participated in the PDRM Charity Ride organised in collaboration with the Ipoh Super Bikers Club. This event also served as a platform to reach out to retired police personnel and strengthen ties with the community. He added that 10 retired police officers in Melaka received donations under the programme, now in its fourth year. Melaka was the final stop for the convoy, which had travelled through several locations nationwide before the programme concluded at Pulapol, Kuala Lumpur.
