Bursa malaysia: A total of 13,194 inspections were conducted nationwide under the 15-day SHMMP from March 14, according to KPDN Enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam. The scheme successfully addressed the people's cost of living during the festive period.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the primary objective of the SHMMP was to ensure price stability in the market. KPDN intensified monitoring efforts by conducting 13,194 inspections nationwide, a significant increase from the 7,258 inspections conducted in 2025. Enforcement personnel were present at the manufacturer, wholesaler, and retailer levels to ensure traders remained compliant during the SHMMP.
Azman reported that the main offence detected involved traders failing to display the pink price tag, with 892 cases recorded. Only two cases were recorded for not having a price tag, and another two cases involved selling above the maximum price. Despite the increase in case action, the majority of traders nationwide showed a high level of cooperation and complied with the maximum prices for the 27 types of controlled goods that were gazetted. Azman expressed gratitude to industry players and traders for their commitment to making the scheme a success.
He further explained that the conflict in West Asia has impacted world oil prices, disrupted international trade routes, and increased logistics and food import costs, putting pressure on the cost of production and distribution of essential items. However, through the SHMMP, people could still purchase essential items at affordable prices, ensuring supplies were easily obtained.
Azman concluded that the Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2026 SHMMP ran smoothly and achieved its objectives, thanks to the ministry's enforcement and public feedback. He emphasized that the KPDN would continue to monitor the supply situation and prices of essential goods to prevent consumers from being manipulated with unreasonable prices.
