Kuala lumpur: A total of 90 Farmers' Outlets (PO) of the Agricultural Farmers' Organisation (PPK) operated corporately nationwide will be progressively empowered to be more competitive, on par with the leading food and beverage (FandB) and retail industries.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Farmers' Organisation Authority (LPP) Economic Development Division director Marlina Mohd said that so far, 30 of these POs have been upgraded in the effort to empower them, including in terms of logo, image, promotion and Stock Keeping Unit (SKU).
"Our target is to have 30 more of these POs to be built and upgraded in the coming period, so they can stand alongside leading brands," she said when met by reporters at the 51st Farmers, Breeders, and Fishermen's Day (HPPN) celebration programme at the Padang Siding PPK grounds here today.
The inauguration of the programme was officiated by the LPP chairman Datuk Mahfuz Omar. Also present was the LPP director-general Amir Matamin.
Marlina said the PO platform showcases quality farmer products from local entrepreneurs and there are plans to further expand its presence nationwide in the future to enable users to obtain these products directly at reasonable prices.
She said that the Padang Siding PO was among those successfully upgraded and inaugurated by the LPP chairman today.
Meanwhile, LPP in a statement during the programme said that the Padang Siding PPK PO received more than 20,000 visitors since it began operations in April this year, thereby proving the positive reception of the community towards the one-stop centre concept that gathers quality local agricultural products at competitive prices.
