Kuala lumpur: The immense contributions and services of the late Abdul Wahab Alwi in inspiring the establishment of MARA Junior Science Colleges (MRSM) will remain etched in the nation's educational history, says Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He highlighted that the former MARA Training Division director was instrumental in the conceptualisation and establishment of MRSM, which has played a significant role in shaping the educational landscape.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Wahab was a pivotal figure behind the creation of MRSM. "From an idea championed with full dedication, an institution was born that continues to open up educational opportunities and shape the future of our children to this day," Ahmad Zahid stated in a Facebook post. Abdul Wahab passed away at 3 am today at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy that continues to impact the educational sector.

Ahmad Zahid elaborated on Abdul Wahab's contributions, noting that he and his team were responsible for preparing the proposal paper and securing the necessary support, which led to the approval of MRSM's establishment in 1970. Furthermore, Abdul Wahab was involved in selecting the teaching staff and principal for MRSM Seremban, the first MRSM in the country, which was established in 1972.

In his message, Ahmad Zahid also conveyed his condolences to Abdul Wahab's family, offering them strength and fortitude during this difficult time.
