Hubbul Watan Should Be Expressed Through Ta’ayush, Says Minister

Kuala lumpur: The spirit of hubbul watan, or love for the country, should be expressed by embracing ta'ayush, the principle of living together harmoniously in a multireligious and multiracial society, stated Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs). He emphasized the teachings of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, which highlight maintaining ties with all people through ukhuwwah insaniyyah, or human brotherhood, while Muslims share the strong bond of ukhuwwah Islamiyyah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zulkifli remarked that differences in political views, skin color, and social background should not lead to hatred, insults, or hostility. He stressed the responsibility of individuals in a multicultural society to protect harmony and reject hate speech and provocation that could damage community ties. These comments were made during the national Maulidur Rasul 1448/2026 celebration, which was attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, along with other notable figures such as Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

Dr. Zulkifli further expressed that devotion to Prophet Muhammad PBUH should inspire Muslims to promote peace and act as peacemakers. He highlighted that the changes introduced by the Prophet represented a significant paradigm shift, showcasing how diversity could be harnessed as strength to forge a cohesive society in Madinah.

He also mentioned that this year's national Maulidur Rasul theme, 'MADANI Dihayati, Ummah Diberkati,' holds profound significance for Muslims. He explained that understanding the MADANI aspirations involves more than familiarising oneself with a government policy; it requires applying Islamic values to social and national life to achieve blessings for the nation and the wider community.
