ABIM Calls for Ban on Israel’s Participation in International Sports

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) has called on the international community to intensify efforts to pressure Israel following attacks on civilians in Gaza.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, ABIM president Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin proposed measures such as urging international sports organizations to suspend Israeli teams and athletes from participating in global sports events.

Ahmad Fahmi highlighted that the Israeli football team continues to participate in the European Zone World Cup qualifiers despite ongoing violence against Gazans. He emphasized that excluding Israel from sports and social activities is crucial to demonstrate the international political elite's commitment to universal humanity.

Additionally, Ahmad Fahmi criticized the United States for issuing statements that deny the impact of Israel's actions in Gaza. He argued that these statements contradict moral and humanitarian principles and seem to justify the ongoing violence.

He pointed out that with over 700 casualties, predominantly children, the U.S.'s stance could be seen as complicit in crimes against humanity. Ahmad Fahmi stated that this position disregards the objections raised by international communities and institutions against Israel's actions.
