AFC, FIFA Quality Audit Not Indicative of Prior Failures, States FAM Honorary President

Kuala lumpur: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Honorary President Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin emphasized that the quality audit report by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA should not be seen as evidence of failures by the previous FAM management. He clarified that the purpose of the report was to enhance the association's governance in accordance with international standards, following FAM's request for an assessment of its administrative structure.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hamidin explained that the audit benchmarks FAM against the high standards set by AFC and FIFA, which does not imply past wrongdoing. He noted that FAM had fulfilled its responsibilities based on existing statutes, but AFC and FIFA identified areas for improvement in line with modern football demands.

Hamidin further mentioned that the audit is crucial for helping FAM enhance its operations and gradually elevate the governing body's standards. He clarified that the audit represents a reform initiative, as highlighted by Datuk Seri Windsor Paul John, AFC General Secretary, aimed at advancing FAM's capabilities.

In other developments, Hamidin, who previously served as FAM president, expressed his hopes for the new leadership to address issues concerning seven national heritage players. This topic continues to be of interest among football fans. He acknowledged FAM's preliminary action of filing a police report and urged the new president and executive committee to thoroughly examine the matter.
