Kuala Lumpur: Local artistes described the afternoon tea with Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, that was held at Istana Negara for the first time as a great honour for the local arts industry. National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac said the event would be a lasting memory for artistes and a meaningful honour for the local creative industry.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Hans Isaac expressed gratitude to the Queen for attending the event and engaging with talented artistes from various performing arts. He noted the rarity of such invitations to the palace, emphasizing the happiness and lasting memories created by the occasion. He highlighted the event as a positive development, encouraging young talent to be more confident and pursue their careers as professional artistes.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the prime minister's spouse, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa, Education Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Aminuddin Hasim, and Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor chief executive officer Hishamuddin Abdul Rahim.
Renowned actress and producer, Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, expressed that the event inspired artistes to excel in their artform, especially when their efforts are recognized by the country's leadership. She emphasized the importance of support for young talent development and its impact on enriching culture and traditions for future generations.
Meanwhile, 80s era actor, Datuk Seri Shah Rezza, highlighted the event's role in supporting initiatives to encourage arts among children, particularly from B40 families. He noted that involvement in the arts helps fill free time positively and contributes to molding balanced individuals with fewer social problems.
The event, attended by about 400 guests including school students, was initiated by the Queen to showcase talent and foster positive interactions between local artistes and students.
