Kuala lumpur: UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today extended his 77th anniversary greetings to UMNO Youth and urged the movement to remain relevant among the younger generation. According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a Facebook post, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that changing times had brought new challenges to the movement, including technological developments, changes in ways of thinking, and increasingly diverse voices among the younger generation. Emphasising that courage alone was not enough, Ahmad Zahid stated that UMNO Youth must be guided by wisdom, supported by knowledge, and translated through ideas and actions that align with the times. He remarked on the significant task of ensuring that UMNO remains relevant and holds a place in the hearts of the new generation. This involves opening the 'House of the Nation' wider, listening to the views of the youth, providing space for new talent, and building confidence that within UMNO, young people are not merely followers but inhe ritors of the struggle. Ahmad Zahid shared that his experience with UMNO Youth had taught him the meaning of struggle and understanding the pulse of the grassroots. He noted that being a member of the movement involves more than being at the forefront; it requires being prepared to shoulder responsibility when the party needs energy, ideas, and courage. He also expressed appreciation to UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, the leadership team, and all members at every level who continue to advance the party's struggle. Ahmad Zahid encouraged them to engage with young people in their language, understand their concerns, and incorporate their aspirations into the party's struggle. Reflecting on the movement's history, Ahmad Zahid remarked that 77 years is not merely a number but a collection of experiences, lessons, and ups and downs that serve as a foundation for the movement to advance. He expressed hope that UMNO Youth would continue to be a platform for nurturing courage guided by reason, ideal ism grounded in reality, and leaders ready to shoulder future responsibilities.
