Aidilfitri: Police Identify 66 Blackspots, Tighten Monitoring Under Op Selamat

Kelantan: The Kelantan police have identified 66 accident-prone blackspots and 41 traffic jam hotspots throughout Op Selamat Aidilfitri 2025, with tight monitoring of major roads such as Jalan Pasir Mas-Rantau Panjang, Jalan Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai and Jalan Gua Musang-Jeli. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that three entry routes to Kelantan, specifically in Pasir Puteh, Gua Musang, and Jeli, are expected to experience an increase in vehicle traffic, prompting the police to prepare a traffic management plan aimed at reducing congestion.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, police have set up special 'Jamed dan Lancar' squads at every district police headquarters to act immediately when congestion occurs. A total of 128 Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department officers and personnel are assigned round-the-clock duties across 103 at-risk areas. This year's operation will focus on six major offences that frequently lead to accidents, including driving above the speed limit and using mobile phones while driving.

Datuk Mohd Yusoff emphasized that the police would not tolerate negligent drivers who pose a threat to lives, and stern action would be taken against those violating traffic rules. He also urged motorists to be more disciplined and adhere to the law, particularly when traversing high-risk areas, to prevent accidents.
