Air Rifles and Jihad Books Discovered at Ulu Tiram Attacker’s Family Home: Witness Testimony

Kuala lumpur: A police officer testified in the High Court that four air rifles, nine Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipes, and several jihad-related books were confiscated from the family home of Radin Luqman Radin Imran, the Ulu Tiram police station attacker in Johor.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, ASP Cassidy Banta, 42, led the search at the home in Kampung Sungai Tiram following the May 17, 2024 attack, which resulted in the deaths of two police personnel. Cassidy reported that Radin Imran Radin Mohd Yassin, 64, the attacker's father, opened the door when police arrived. Cassidy informed the family members about the attack and the subsequent death of Radin Luqman, along with the two police personnel.

During his testimony, Cassidy detailed the discovery of six jihad-titled books and four mobile phones belonging to the accused. He found the air rifles and PVC pipes in a storeroom, alongside a pouch containing 42 marbles. Following these discoveries, Cassidy arrested the five accused family members under Section 302 of the Penal Code for suspected involvement in the case.

The seized items and family members were taken to the Seri Alam district police headquarters for further proceedings and were remanded to assist in the investigation. Cassidy also recounted the reactions of Radin Luqman's parents, Rosna Jantan, 61, and Radin Imran, upon learning about their son's death. Rosna expressed relief, while Radin Imran regretted not accompanying his son in the attack.

The charges against the family members include failing to provide information on terrorist ideologies, promoting and supporting terrorist acts, and possessing firearms and materials linked to the terrorist group Daesh. The trial is set to continue on April 27.
