All Flood Victims In Perak Return Home As Last Relief Centre Closes

Manjung: The last temporary relief centre in Perak, located at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Padang Serai in Manjung, has been officially closed after all flood victims returned to their homes.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) secretariat stated that the decision was made following assessments by various agencies confirming that the affected area is now safe.

The joint monitoring conducted by the police, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force (APM), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), and the Pengkalan Baru sub-district office found that the flood-hit area is now secure, with all victims having returned home.

Appreciation and gratitude are extended to all state and federal agencies, individuals, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for their cooperation and coordination in managing the relief centres throughout their operation, the statement read.

Earlier this morning, 66 individuals from 17 families in Kampung Padang Serai were still taking shelter at the centre, which had been opened since Oct 23.
