Price of BAS.MY Travel Pass Reduced to RM30 to Benefit Commuters

Johor bahru: The price of the BAS.MY 30-day Unlimited Travel pass for stage buses nationwide has been reduced from RM50 to RM30 per month, enabling the public to enjoy unlimited rides for as low as RM1 per day.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the price reduction, effective immediately, aims to lower the cost of living for the public, potentially saving them between RM200 and RM300 each month.

The Johor Bahru Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) programme has recorded the highest number of passengers in the country since its 2022 implementation, averaging 940,000 ridership per month this year. The implementation of BAS.MY in Johor Bahru now covers 21 routes, up from the previous 18. To support this expansion, the Federal Government will invest RM134.94 million over two years, ensuring SBST services in Johor Bahru continue to benefit the public.

Loke urged Johor Bahru BAS.MY operators to increase efforts to reach a monthly average of one million passengers. The initiative is exclusive to Malaysians, while non-citizens will continue to pay the full fare. The pass price reduction will also be extended to all states with BAS.MY services.

Additionally, Loke announced the introduction of BAS.MY Medik, a service involving special vans to transport dialysis patients, disabled individuals, and wheelchair users, set to launch in Johor Bahru by year-end. Two modified vans will offer transport from homes to medical facilities, with bookings available through mobile apps or phone calls.

Meanwhile, Loke, who will visit the RTS project site today to check on its progress, stated that the fares for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link are yet to be finalized and will be decided in collaboration with the operator soon.
