All Programmes By MITRA Scrutinised By PMO For Transparency – Ramanan

Kuala lumpur: The approval for every programme under the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) goes through a coordination and scrutiny process by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to ensure transparency, said Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Datuk Seri R. Ramanan. Ramanan, who is also responsible for looking after the affairs of the Indian community, stated that each application is also examined by the Prime Minister's Department's monitoring, finance, and integrity divisions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim directly oversees all planning and developments to ensure a transparent delivery system that meets the expectations of the Indian community, particularly the B40 group. Ramanan highlighted that each decision sanctioned by the PMO results from a meticulous coordination process, grounded in data and feedback from various ministries and agencies, including MITRA.

Ramanan also mentioned that the Prime Minister aims to ensure that government funds allocated for the Indian community are directed towards programmes that can enhance their living standards and avoid any duplication with other government agencies. He clarified that the PMO functions as a national policy coordinator, ensuring that all initiatives align with government policies and have a significant impact on the population, rather than taking over the role of any agency.

Meanwhile, Ramanan noted that MITRA plays a crucial role in devising initiatives for the Indian community in partnership with several agencies, such as the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (KUSKOP), the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), and others.
