Siena:The National Cooperative Organisation of Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) has called for all registered cooperatives, including mosque cooperatives, to meet the necessary qualification requirements to become MyKasih store business partners.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, ANGKASA President Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah highlighted that there are currently 3,600 registered cooperatives nationwide, of which 730 are mosque cooperatives and Kabin Qariah Cooperatives. Out of these, 1,400 cooperatives are active, but only 277 have registered as strategic partners for the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) initiative.
Abdul Fattah expressed the desire for all 1,400 active cooperatives, including mosque cooperatives, to meet the qualifications to provide services to consumers, thereby enabling them to generate more income. He made these remarks at the launch of the Kabin Coop Mart Koperasi Kariah Masjid Ismail Petra.
He further mentioned that discussions with the government are planned to seek flexibility for certain conditions, particularly for cooperatives in rural areas, to become MyKasih business partners. This year, the government has allocated RM15 million to ANGKASA for the implementation of 1,000 Jualan RAHMAH programs.
Abdul Fattah emphasized the importance of cooperatives meeting prescribed conditions, such as holding a controlled goods license and registering with the Inland Revenue Board. He also noted the significant role of mosque Qariah cooperatives in strengthening the community's economy through cooperation and social responsibility.
He added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim allocated RM500,000 during the National Cooperative Congress to empower mosque Qariah cooperatives, underscoring the cooperative movement's role in creating economic opportunities for the community.
