Segamat: A weak earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was recorded in Segamat at 4.24 am today, marking the fourth seismic event to hit the district in just one week.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, approximately 22 kilometres northeast of Segamat. Tremors were also noticeable in several parts of Johor. MetMalaysia assured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as necessary.
The department has requested members of the public who experienced the tremors to fill out an online form at to aid in their assessment. This recent earthquake follows three previous weak tremors recorded in Segamat on August 24, 27, and 28, with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 4.1.
