Anwar Criticizes Western Hypocrisy While Advocating for Justice Principles

Kuala kangsar: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has openly criticized the hypocrisy of certain Western powers that claim to be advocates of human rights while remaining silent on visible global injustices. Anwar emphasized that advancements in science and technology are futile if they are detached from moral principles, ethics, and humanitarian values.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar highlighted the destructive consequences of wars instigated by intelligent individuals who create advanced technology and weaponry but use them to oppress and colonize other nations. He specifically mentioned the situation in Iran and criticized the ease with which Israel makes decisions, supported by the United States, leading to a global silence influenced by Western powers. Anwar asserted Malaysia's commitment to independence and its courage to denounce such violent and inhumane attacks.

Anwar addressed these issues during the 'Temu Anwar' programme with the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) community. The event also saw the presence of Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh, and Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah.

Anwar further commented on the erosion of public trust, attributing it to the hypocrisy of political leaders who speak of peace yet engage in actions contradicting their words. He stressed the need for Malaysia to embrace change and uphold moral principles despite political pressures and other challenges.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that systemic change, particularly in combating corruption and abuse of power, requires time and cannot occur overnight. He highlighted ongoing government efforts to address these issues through due process while recognizing the challenges posed by wealthy individuals who exploit social media to undermine anti-corruption measures.

Anwar also addressed misconceptions surrounding his previous statements on fuel prices, noting that his comments were made in a different economic context. He pointed out that despite current global oil price surges, Malaysia maintains relatively low fuel prices compared to other countries.
