Anwar Encourages Young SUKMA Athletes for International Representation

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his aspirations for young athletes participating in the 2026 Selangor Malaysia Games (SUKMA) to eventually represent Malaysia on an international level.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared his thoughts in a Facebook post, highlighting his admiration for the athletes' spirit, discipline, and courage. He recently had the opportunity to meet the athletes and observe the Muay Thai events during the games.

Anwar expressed hope that these athletes will one day represent Malaysia globally and bring pride to the nation. The 2026 SUKMA, hosted by Selangor after a 28-year gap, features over 5,000 young athletes competing for 468 gold medals across 37 sports, running until August 24.
