APAD Issues Show-cause Letter To KDEBWM Over Batu 14 Toll Plaza Crash

Kuala lumpur: The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) issued a show-cause letter dated Oct 13 to KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) following an accident involving the company's lorry at Batu 14 Toll Plaza, Puchong, on Oct 10.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, APAD also announced that all new applications from KDEBWM have been suspended until the investigation is completed. An intensive investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident and ensure corrective actions are taken. The agency stated that if any breach of licence conditions is found, the licence may be suspended or revoked under Section 62 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715).

APAD emphasized its commitment to safety and reminded operators to comply with licence conditions, ensure drivers are properly qualified, and maintain vehicles in good condition with proper safety features. The agency further underscored the importance of adhering to all regulations to prevent such incidents.

In the 2.30 pm accident, the truck attendant sustained serious facial and head injuries when the vehicle, driven by an Indonesian man, lost control and crashed into the Puchong Toll Plaza concrete barrier. The driver fled the scene, prompting an investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
