Ayer Kuning: A newlywed couple took time out of their wedding celebrations today to cast their votes in the Ayer Kuning state by-election. Spa worker Norhidayanty Yaziz, 29, never thought her wedding day would become even more memorable when it coincided with polling day, making it extra special for her and her husband, electrical maintenance worker Khairul Shafaeez Idris, 35.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Norhidayanty discovered the clash between her wedding day and the by-election about a month ago. Initially surprised, especially since it was her first time voting, she emphasized her sense of duty by ensuring she participated in the election. The couple arrived at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Tiga polling centre with their family members around 4.30 pm.
Norhidayanty, who works in the Klang Valley, shared that the wedding reception at Kampung Tersusun Batu 33, Temoh, was a joyful affair despite many guests being voters in the constituency. She expressed gratitude for her family's support in the preparations, noting that everything went smoothly even with the by-election taking place.
When discussing her hopes as a voter in Ayer Kuning, Norhidayanty wished for an elected representative who prioritizes the people's rights and well-being. She hopes the new representative will be as commendable as the previous one, who was known for being approachable and helpful to the constituents.
