Aichi-Nagoya:National track cycling ace Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang secured Malaysia's eighth gold medal after winning the men's keirin at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games at the Izu Velodrome.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the 38-year-old cyclist executed a remarkable burst of speed on the final bend to overtake China's Li Zhiwei, who had been leading, to clinch the gold medal.
In the same event, another Malaysian cyclist, Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom, finished in fifth place. China's Xie Han took home the bronze medal.
Earlier in the day, Azizulhasni advanced to the final by finishing first in the second semi-final heat. Meanwhile, Shah Firdaus secured his spot in the final by finishing third in the first heat.
