Kuching: The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here will come alive tonight as about 5,000 people are expected to gather for the national-level Malaysia Day 2026 celebration. Sarawak is once again hosting the national celebration, having last hosted the event in 2023.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the programme will begin at 7 pm with a pre-show segment, followed by the arrival of invited guests from 7.30 pm. The guests of honour are Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, together with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The celebration will also showcase a line-up of performances featuring invited artistes, a musical theatre presentation, and a grand finale bringing together performers representing the three regions - Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.

The public in Kuching can also witness a fireworks display at the Kuching Waterfront as part of the celebration's closing segment. Leading up to the main event, several activities were organised, including a Malaysia Day exhibition held from Sept 10 to 16 at Plaza Merdeka here.
