Terengganu: The 'AI-Powered Content Creation and Editorial Automation' workshop, conducted by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) here, provided media practitioners with insights into how the technology can enhance and support their work processes. Most participants said that the workshop, which began yesterday, offered them a deeper understanding of the wide range of available AI-related tools and applications that can be utilized in their work.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, freelance journalist for Kosmo!, Nursyasya Nadhirah Zabidin, expressed that she learned about methods for producing news content more easily and creatively. She highlighted the training as excellent and extremely helpful, especially for young journalists like herself. While she had some familiarity with AI, the workshop introduced her to many tools that can assist with writing news scripts. However, she emphasized the importance of verifying the accuracy and transparency of information provided by AI applications like ChatGPT.
Head of Current Affairs News at Terengganu Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Murni Ali, noted that the training modules were easy to understand and follow, despite the challenges AI technology poses for those in her age group. At 50 years old, she acknowledged the necessity to learn about technologies like AI as part of the ongoing industrial revolution. Murni also urged younger journalists to maintain ethical standards in journalism when utilizing AI technology to streamline their workflow.
Bernama Kelantan Bureau chief Muhammad Afiq Mohd Asri commented that the training opened a new perspective for him on harnessing technology to enhance work efficiency, from content planning to final publication. He has begun to view AI not just as a support tool but as a strategic partner in accelerating and simplifying daily tasks. He was introduced to multiple AI applications and platforms that assist in generating content, editing text quickly and accurately, and identifying current trends through real-time data analysis.
The two-day training was attended by twenty-five media practitioners from Terengganu and Kelantan. Terengganu is the fifth location for the training, following sessions in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Sarawak, and Sabah, with the Bernama Centre of Excellence coordinating the AI course under the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2025 allocation.
