Kuala lumpur: As Ramadan and Chinese New Year coincide this year, Bernama TV and Bernama Radio are set to provide extensive coverage with specially curated programmes that celebrate Malaysia's rich multiculturalism and religious traditions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Bernama TV head Nor Hamzeela Md Hambali announced that the channel will feature a series of educational programmes and special reports throughout Ramadan, focusing on community economic initiatives. Engaging demonstrations and interviews with Raya cookie- and baju Raya-makers will be presented, along with segments featuring asatizah (Islamic religious teachers) to celebrate the holy month.
Nor Hamzeela highlighted that Bernama TV will showcase the resilience of Muslims working under challenging conditions during Ramadan through collaborations with local companies. Furthermore, Bernama TV's Mandarin News will embrace the festive spirit of Chinese New Year with a special Year of the Horse-themed set and a Chinese New Year series airing from Feb 15 to March 3. The series will feature eight five-minute episodes exploring history, art, tradition, and community life, covering topics such as Movable Type Printing and the Traditional Chinese Almanac Calendar.
Meanwhile, Bernama Radio senior news and presentation manager Endok Baleana Bachok, acting as head of radio, shared that the station will present special Ramadan programmes, including Fiqah Wanita Ramadan, Anggun, and Ibrah Hadis. A distinctive addition to this year's Ramadan offerings is the 20-episode drama series Ramadan Di Sebalik Senyap, produced by Amar Yusof, focusing on themes of sacrifice, honesty, and family.
For Chinese New Year 2026, Bernama Radio will air a special interview programme titled Tuah Kuda Api: Siapa Bertindak, Dia Mendahului on Feb 17, featuring Feng Shui experts discussing various aspects of life. Additionally, celebrity Dr Soo Wincci will join a special programme to share her festive traditions and hopes for the year. An interview with Feng Shui expert Kenneth Leslie Chan will delve into traditional Chinese culture, focusing on the makan besar tradition and the significance of lemons for prosperity.
