Selangor: Members of the public who wish to have a special registration number (NPI) with the index 'SIS', which means 'Sultan Idris Shah', can place bids starting tomorrow. A post on the Selangor Royal Office's Facebook page announced that the 'SIS' plate bidding is open in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Idris Shah in December and the Silver Jubilee celebration of his 25th year of reign next year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the special registration number is being offered by the Ministry of Transport through the Road Transport Department (JPJ) via online bidding through the JPJeBid System. The public bidding will commence on August 15 (Friday) and close at 10 pm, August 19 (Tuesday). The results of the bidding will be announced on August 20 (Wednesday).
The bidding method is subject to the existing terms and conditions set through the JPJeBid System, with the bid price adhering to the minimum price established by JPJ. The posting also clarified that JPJ is the sole entity responsible for managing the sale of this NPI, with no third parties involved in the process.
A portion of the proceeds from the NPI sale will be directed to a foundation under the patronage of the Sultan of Selangor, aimed at supporting charitable activities such as scholarships and emergency funds for those in need. The foundation will be chaired by Selangor Royal Council member and former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim, and will adhere to transparent procedures and governance.
