Pahang MB Highlights Importance of Multiracial Unity for National Peace

Pahang: The close ties among people of various races and religions in the country are an invaluable asset, symbolising not only independence but also the nation's peace and prosperity, said Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail. He urged all parties to avoid division, which would only bring harm, and to ensure that differences of opinion do not sever bonds of friendship or fuel hostility among the people.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Rosdy emphasised the importance of maintaining racial harmony, warning against the dangers of slander and divisive tactics that could erode trust and cause disunity. He made these remarks during his winding-up speech at the Pahang State Legislative Assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang. Wan Rosdy also called for embracing independence with a spirit of tolerance and mutual understanding to build a brighter future together.

He urged assembly members and the people of Pahang to free themselves from the shackles of hatred, suspicion, and division. This call to action was made in conjunction with the approval of one of the lowest supplementary budgets since 2022 during the assembly session.

Wan Rosdy described the approved RM141 million supplementary budget as covering seven essential items, including increases in civil servant salaries and pension payments for government retirees. He noted that these payments are mandatory and necessary for the state government to address unforeseen matters.
