Johor bahru: The Johor government will expand the Bangsa Johor Bahagia (BJB) programme to Flat Larkin here and Flat Temenggong in the Kulai district to improve the quality of community life in the housing areas. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the matter was presented to Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah Queen of Malaysia at Istana Bukit Serene here today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the BJB 3.0 programme would incorporate the theme of heritage and a new spirit in addressing the challenges of stratified housing. The initiative will also focus on improving socio-economic status, providing youth development opportunities, establishing generation development platforms, and enhancing the ability of the community to accept change.
The programme will be implemented in collaboration with the Johor Bahru City Council, Kulai Municipal Council, and Johor State Housing Development Corporation. The programme, which was mooted by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty the Queen, is under the auspices of the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation and the Raja Zarith Sofiah Foundation of Johor in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
Onn Hafiz highlighted that the programme, which also upgrades run-down flats, has achieved various successes through pilot community projects since it was first implemented at the Kangkar Pulai New Town Apartment (BJB1.0) in 2019. It was later expanded to the Plentong Utama Flat (BJB2.0) this year.
