BKSA Clarifies Status of Water Supply in Melaka Amid Social Media Claims

Melaka: The Melaka Water Regulatory Authority (BKSA) under the Chief Minister's Department has denied claims of water rationing in the state, as circulated on social media.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, BKSA asserted that the water supply remains under control despite the prolonged hot weather and reduced rainfall in recent weeks, which have slightly affected raw water levels. The state government, in collaboration with BKSA and Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd (SAMB), is actively implementing various measures to ensure a sufficient and stable water supply. These efforts include optimizing operations at water treatment plants, utilizing existing ponds and lakes, and enhancing continuous monitoring of raw water sources.

The BKSA also highlighted efforts to reduce water losses by controlling leaks and improving the distribution system. The state government is committed to maintaining these measures to safeguard the water supply.

The public has been urged to use water prudently and avoid wastage. Consumers are advised to obtain information only from official state government channels and refrain from spreading unverified information.
