Pahang: The Pahang government, through the Pahang Recreation Council, is planning to organise the Mara Lasak Pahang 3.0 programme in Hulu Tembeling, Jerantut, says State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal. He said the proposal was put forward by the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, after witnessing the response to Mara Lasak Pahang 2.0 held at Felda Chini 1 today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fadzli expressed confidence that Mara Lasak 3.0 will be more vibrant, noting that participation by 105 teams nearly doubled compared with last year. Tengku Hassanal presented prizes to the winners of Mara Lasak 2.0, with the Kuantan District Police Headquarters team emerging as overall champions and winners of the uniformed bodies category. The event featured a team-based trail run covering a 15-kilometre route, with participants carrying a five-kilogramme load, and included categories such as invitational or VIP, government agencies and statutory bodies, and youth, university students and community categories.
Fadzli also mentioned plans to open Mara Lasak Pahang 3.0 to participants from outside the state and possibly introduce new categories. He highlighted the potential for international participation but emphasized the need for careful and detailed planning before expanding beyond Malaysian participants.
Additionally, the participation of Pahang Syarie Chief Judge Datuk Abdul Walid Abu Hassan, aged 63, who completed the race in about three hours, was noted as a strong example for the younger generation. Fadzli stated that the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang appreciates individuals in high positions who compete alongside others, emphasizing that there is no excuse for youth not to participate or complete the challenge. Mara Lasak Pahang aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, build physical endurance and resilience, and strengthen teamwork among the people of the state.
