Boy Stung By Stingray At Balik Pulau Beach Discharged From Hospital

Balik pulau: The 10-year-old boy, Zaeed Khan Wazir Khan, who was stung by a pale-edged stingray while bathing at Pantai Tanjung Asam, Gertak Sanggul, was discharged from the hospital yesterday evening. His mother, Siti Aishah Zainal Abidin, 37, mentioned that her only child's condition was improving and that he was resting at home but still required monitoring, as he was showing mild fever symptoms.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Siti Aishah shared that Zaeed Khan is recovering, although there is still a little fluid coming from the sting wound. He is not in pain and only experiences occasional itching. The doctor provided fever medicine and antibiotics and advised the family to be cautious in the future by wearing proper bathing suits and shoes to prevent similar incidents.

Siti Aishah recalled the incident that occurred around 5 pm, stating that she and her husband panicked after their child suddenly screamed in pain and was unable to get up, as a lot of blood was coming from his right leg. The situation was intensified by heavy traffic due to it being a Saturday and a school holiday, making the journey to Penang Hospital (HPP) stressful.

Despite the severity of the incident, Siti Aishah noted that it did not have a major emotional impact on Zaeed Khan. However, the family has learned a valuable lesson and plans to be more cautious in the future, particularly when visiting the beach. The incident highlighted the importance of taking preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences.

In the incident last Saturday, Zaeed Khan was quickly taken to HPP after being stung on the ankle by a small species of stingray while enjoying a day at the beach.
