POIC Desalination Plant Could Revolutionize Industrial Water Supply in Sabah: Ewon

Lahad datu: The establishment of the Jetama seawater desalination plant in the Oil and Gas Industrial Park (POIC) is poised to serve as a model for industrial water supply across Sabah, according to Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick. The plant, a collaborative effort between Jetama Sdn Bhd and POIC Sabah, addresses water supply challenges faced by factories within the industrial area.

This development aligns with the expansion goals of POIC Lahad Datu, where 46 significant enterprises are currently operational. The area is being positioned as Sabah's eastern gateway, with strong growth prospects.

Ewon, who also serves as Sabah Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport, emphasized his ministry's commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance the industrial ecosystem and secure essential resources for the sector. Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of expanding industrial zones and reassessing policies concerning the development of industrial parks to ensure they effectively drive the state's economic growth.
