Bridge Connecting Pulau Tuba and Pulau Dayang Bunting Enters Procurement Stage

Langkawi: The planned bridge connecting Pulau Tuba with Pulau Dayang Bunting is currently in the procurement stage, with the letter of acceptance expected to be issued by mid-2026, as announced by Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the federal project is crucial for the residents of the islands and has been approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan Rolling Plan 3. It aims to replace and upgrade the existing narrow one-lane bridge, which currently only allows the passage of one four-wheel drive vehicle at a time.

The bridge will span Selat Bagan Nyior, becoming an essential route and providing consistent mobility and access in all weather conditions. It is expected to significantly contribute to the inclusive socioeconomic development of the area, thereby improving the standard of living for locals.

The project involves constructing a 1.04-kilometre bridge, consisting of a 0.38 km bridge and a 0.66 km road, built to the Public Works Department’s R1 specification, which includes two lanes. Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan expressed hope that the project team and contractors, once appointed, would commit to continuous discussions and cooperation to ensure the project meets the specified requirements concerning time and costs.
