Cabinet to Discuss Framework of Gaza Peace Plan, Says PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that he will present the latest Gaza peace plan framework proposed by the United States to the Cabinet for discussion. He highlighted that the priority, agreed upon by most Arab countries, is to halt violence, ensure Palestinian independence including in Gaza, and expedite humanitarian aid.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed reservations about the proposed peace plan meeting Malaysia's aspirations, particularly in upholding justice for the Palestinian people. He acknowledged, however, that it represents a meaningful start toward ending violence and occupation, with an emphasis on the urgency of humanitarian aid.

Anwar's remarks came during a media conference following his visit to the Sumud Nusantara Command Centre. Reports indicate that Palestine has shown support for US President Donald Trump's efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict in Gaza and remains committed to collaborating with Washington and other parties for peace.

Yesterday, President Trump unveiled a 20-point plan aimed at ending Israel's war on the Gaza Strip, during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan proposes measures such as the exchange of captives, disarmament of Hamas, and establishing a technocratic Palestinian governing committee.

Anwar further emphasized the significance of the Global Sumud Flotilla mission, which includes 34 Malaysians among activists from 45 countries, as it delivers a clear humanitarian message. He remarked on the global awakening to the essence of humanitarian justice prompted by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

He also dismissed claims that the younger generation is disengaged from the developments in Gaza. Instead, he pointed to their active participation in previous gatherings as evidence of their sensitivity and concern for the Palestinian issue.
