Kuala lumpur: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and his Thai counterpart Anutin Charnvirakul have expressed positive feedback and reaffirmed their commitment to finding a peaceful resolution, thereby adhering to the terms agreed upon in the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim mentioned that he had spoken to Hun Manet and Anutin Charnvirakul over the phone to discuss the progress of peace efforts following the latest incident along the border between the two countries. Anwar emphasized Malaysia's stance on strengthening the friendship and ceasefire between the two nations, in line with the understanding reached in Kuala Lumpur at the end of last month.
Anwar further stated Malaysia's readiness to continue playing the role of a facilitator in paving the path toward peace. This commitment was shared on his Facebook page, where he also highlighted the appreciation expressed by both prime ministers for Malaysia's role, not only as the ASEAN Chair but also as a regional friend and neighbor committed to peace.
Hun Manet and Anutin Charnvirakul had signed the peace accord on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit on October 26, witnessed by Anwar and United States President Donald Trump. The accord commits Thailand and Cambodia to end hostilities and foster good neighborly ties with each other, aiming for lasting peace in the region and the safety of their people.
