Kuala lumpur: The 31st CGC Awards 2025 honoured 32 outstanding achievements by Malaysia's micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and key players in the financial ecosystem. The awards, presented by Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd (CGC), recognise businesses and industry players that have demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and inclusive participation in the country's enterprise sector.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, CGC chairman Datuk Mohammed Hussein emphasized that resilience among businesses extends beyond access to cash and credit. He highlighted the importance of the character, discipline, and adaptability of business owners in helping enterprises withstand challenges. 'Resilience is built in conduct, reflected in the numbers, and revealed under pressure,' he noted during the award ceremony. He stressed that a strong and resilient SME sector relies on collaboration across the ecosystem, involving the government, research institutions, corporations, and financial institutions.
CGC has bolstered its support for Bumiputera companies, providing RM223 million in guarantees to 27 Bumiputera companies last year, and surpassing targets with RM1.2 billion in environmental, social, and governance-linked guarantees. The awards, presented across three categories, celebrated top financial and non-financial partners, with Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd and CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd winning the Best Financial Partner award. OCBC Al-Amin Bank Bhd received the Bumiputera SMEs Award, and Maybank Islamic Bhd was recognized with the Special Recognition Bumiputera Award.
The awards also marked the launch of the RM10 billion Bank Negara Malaysia-CGC Portfolio Guarantee (PG) and Portfolio Guarantee-i (PG-i) schemes, aiming to facilitate guaranteed financing for approximately 12,100 MSMEs. These schemes, first announced on June 3, 2026, are designed to bolster MSME support across key economic sectors through a risk-sharing model with participating financial institutions. The financing aims to enhance business expansion, productivity, sustainability transitions, and overall competitiveness.
CGC reiterated its commitment under CGC Group 2030 to deepen its impact on MSMEs, advancing financial inclusion and supporting sustainable economic development through ongoing collaboration with financial institutions, government agencies, corporates, and entrepreneurs.
