Casuarina meru: Casuarina Meru Sdn Bhd is aiming for an overall occupancy rate of 62 per cent for its four-star Hotel Casuarina@Meru this year, attributing this target to positive domestic tourism growth and sustained visitor arrivals.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Casuarina Meru chairman Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin reported nearly 33,000 guest arrivals from January to July, which increased the hotel's occupancy rate to 55 per cent from 50 per cent during the same period last year. The improvement aligns with a rise in domestic tourists choosing Perak and other local destinations over international travel. The 62 per cent target is expected to be achieved through positive momentum among both corporate and individual customers.
Hotel Casuarina@Meru, situated in Bandar Meru Raya, is also planning to upgrade its facilities. This includes interior refurbishment, enhancements to its 1,000-capacity banquet hall, and a proposed swimming pool.
Mohd Azhar announced the launch of the Casuarina Rewards programme after 13 years of operation to enhance customer relationships and marketing strategies. The loyalty programme offers Silver, Gold, and Platinum membership tiers, allowing members to redeem points for complimentary stays, food and beverage vouchers, hotel products, and other exclusive benefits.
In addition, the company is exploring the redevelopment of its hotel in Teluk Intan and potential expansion of the Casuarina brand beyond Perak. 'We need to conduct on-the-ground studies and assess factors such as the economy, demand and domestic market before determining the suitable location and hotel category,' Mohd Azhar added.
