Changzhou: National mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei's journey at the China Open 2025 in Changzhou ended in the quarter-finals today. Tang Jie and Ee Wei failed to live up to their billing as the fourth seeds, losing 19-21, 15-21 to China's Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui in 43 minutes at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, today's result marked the Malaysians' first loss against Xin Wa and Fang Hui in three meetings. Xin Wa and Fang Hui will take on either reigning champions and compatriots Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping or Indonesia's Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja in the semi-finals tomorrow.
Meanwhile, national women's doubles pair Go Pei Kee and Teoh Mei Xing endured a similar fate as they went down to home pair Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian, 7-21, 15-21. This was Pei Kee and Mei Xing's fourth straight loss against Yi Fan and Shu Xian since they first crossed paths in the Malaysia Open 2025 last January.
Next up for the Chinese pair in the last four are either national number one duo Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah or Japan's Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto, who will clash later today.
